Black Coffee And Slimming?
Coffee lovers will never miss a cup in the morning. According to a 2010 Filterfresh Coffee survey, 54% of those surveyed said they would rather part with their cell phone for the day than give up a cup of refreshing drink in the morning. And while 96% of those surveyed say they get their daily dose of caffeine from their favorite drink, the vast majority of coffee drinkers don't view coffee as a meal replacement or as a way to lose weight. Does coffee really help you lose weight?
Coffee is a weight loss aid
“Some studies have shown that caffeine does slightly speed up weight loss. It suppresses the appetite or desire to eat,” says Cathy Taylor, a certified dietitian. “It also helps with calorie burning by stimulating the process of thermogenesis, the body's production of heat during the digestion of food. In addition, caffeine acts as a diuretic, causing excess fluid loss. So coffee is also a great helper for quick and urgent weight loss.”
People who are trying to lose weight are very fond of drinking coffee in large quantities because it helps them feel full for a long time. "Coffee cannot replace food," says Dr. Danin Fryuge, associate professor and director of the Pritikin Longevity Medical Center and Spa. “You can't fool your brain for that long. He will still demand the usual food from you.
Helps with workouts
Coffee and caffeine are on the list of the best weight loss tools according to research by Mike Wiedenbach, owner of Adlertraining in New York. “It is a powerful antioxidant that is essential for speedy recovery after exercise and for maintaining overall immunity. In addition, coffee mobilizes free fatty acids, which are easily oxidized during exercise.” Wiedenbach also emphasizes that coffee helps to stay in good physical health and have a constant focus.
Acceleration of metabolism
For maximum weight loss success, the Weight Control Room website suggests drinking black coffee on an empty stomach, but only in moderation. The website says that caffeine can speed up metabolism by stimulating the nervous system. This facilitates fat burning by pulling fatty acids from fat cells. The same website, however, cautions coffee drinkers against consuming it along with carbohydrates. "If you drink the carbs of coffee, then the insulin being produced at that point in your body will overtake fat burning and reduce the effectiveness of caffeine."
Recommendations
“Black coffee makes your heart race in the morning, so it helps a little during morning workouts. However, it is worth remembering that any stimulants in sports are not completely natural and you should not indulge in them too often, ”adds Kathy Taylor. “My advice is to drink no more than two cups of coffee a day.” Also, Taylor advises drinking coffee before noon so as not to experience problems with sleep. “Although, with a full eight hours of sleep, you won’t need any stimulant drink at all. Just cut off an hour of internet or TV a day.”
What else to take into account
Coffee significantly suppresses appetite. Therefore, it is worth remembering that if you drink a cup of coffee in the morning, then during the day you need to drink as much liquid as possible. “When people drink a lot of coffee, they severely cut their daily water intake, and as a result, they begin to snack more often during the day,” says Dr. Fruge. “Sometimes people who drink coffee overeat during the day, simply because coffee suppressed their appetite for a certain period of time, but did not saturate the body in time,” she adds.
Warning
Coffee has a fast-growing effect, which is why Wiedenbach advises against drinking coffee every day. “High doses (over 800 mg per day) can lead to heart palpitations, seizures and excessive sweating,” he adds. However, there is also good news. “Caffeine is not addictive and is absorbed fairly quickly in the body,” Wiedenbach says.
